Be a part of Oil City's annual Community Clean-Up Day on Wednesday, April 19, from 9:00am - 8:00pm. Local businesses, organizations, groups, and individuals are invited to help beautify the town at this fun and productive annual event!
Priority areas for Oil City Cleanup Day include but are not limited to the following areas:
REGISTRATION: Please sign up for the event by April 5. At registration, you may choose your own work area or be assigned a clean-up area upon check-in. Registration forms are available at the download link below as well as the main lobby of Oil City Hall, at the Oil City Library, and, or by request at 814-677-3152 or oilcity.mainstreet@oilregion.org.
There are three different shifts available during the clean-up day: 9:00-12:00, 12:00-4:00, and 4:00-8:00; and interested groups are advised to register in advance. It is not necessary to volunteer for an entire shift - just let us know when to expect your group!
CHECK-IN: Check-in will be at the Oil City Town Square, where Main Street volunteers will have a supply of trash bags, gloves, and safety vests as well as bottled water and light snacks. Participants are asked to bring their own brooms, rakes, or other hand tools as desired. Tasks include hand pick-up of litter, sweeping sidewalks, and raking of leaves and other debris. Participants are advised to follow safety precautions and place all bagged debris from their
designated area in one location near the curb, and report back to the event check-in at the end of their shift. Adult supervision is required for all participants under the age of 18. At the end of the day the Oil City Fire Department will wash down the downtown streets,
and the next morning, the city's Public Works Department will collect the bags of refuse gathered by event participants in the designated cleanup locations. If desired, participating groups may also adopt their designated area and keep it clean throughout the season. Oil City Community Clean-Up Day is organized by the Oil City Main Street Program's Safe, Clean & Green Committee in conjunction with the City of Oil City, with additional support from PennDOT and Keep PA Beautiful.
